The Andromeda Galaxy in Infrared

It looks like a hat. Pretty!!

Wow… The structure really shows up at wavelengths that filter out the dust. That is brilliant.

For beginners, this one is actually a naked eye object on a dark night, and very visible through binoculars or with a small scope. :slight_smile: Sadly, more of a smudge than a spectacular spiral, but it’s still one of my favourites.

The other night I was walking along the rail road tracks with a friend and he showed me a planet. I never knew it was a planet before he told me, I always thought it was a bright star. I forgot which planet it was, though. :blush:

If it was in the east it was probably Mars, which is quite bright right now.
