Thank You Jerry Freeman :-)

I have been wanting to try a Jerry Freeman tweaked whistle. I finely got me one. A Generation D tweaked by Jerry Freeman. A very well done whistle that play just fine. Looking over what Mr. Freeman did to the whistle I thought I’d give it a try myself. I had a Walton Mello D that did not play very well so I took off the mouth piece (fipple) and beveled the end of the windway, filled in the space below the widway with clay, cut a piece of plastic from an expired credit card and glued it to the tone hole ramp so it extended into the tone hole about 1/16th an inch. Put it back onto the tube and now I have the sweetest sounding and best playing whistle I have ever herd. I also did the same to a freadog and a regular Generation and it inproved them a lot. But nothing as sweet as the Mello D. My God the Mello D whistle is ABSATOOTLY FANTABULIUS.

All thanks to Jerry Freeman. Thank you Mr. Freeman.

Give it a try folks, its not had to do

If you mean Freeman’s Mellow Dog I’d have to agree. That one always gets a “wow” out of me. Fabulous bang for the buck.

Doc

Yes, I believe that I will harp on the quality of my MellowDog until I break it somehow, and probably after that too. I have handled it so much that Jerry’s mouse label is completely worn off, and I’ve only had it since November!

You might want to put a piece of scotch tape over Jerry’s label to keep the same thing from happening to your whistle.

No no no, my Jerry Freeman tweaked whistle is a regular Generation D.

I’m the one who twaeked the Walton Mello D using the Jerry Freeman tweaked Generation as a guide. But instead of adding to the tone edge of the tone hole from inside the whistle like Mr. Freeman did I just glued a small piece of flat plastic (cut from an expired credit card) to the top of the tone hole ramp, making the little piece of plastic the new tone edge (or librium) by extending it into the tone hole about a sixteenth of an inch.

And I have to agree with both of you. A tweaked Mello D is the sweetest sounding/playing whistle I have ever seen or herd.
However I think I’m going to have to get one of Jerry Freeman’s tweaked Mello D’s as he surely knows more about what he is doing then I do. Just to compare his to mine. And have a backup in case something happens to mine. I’d hate to loose such a sweet whistle as this one.
