I was curious about this as well, so I checked Terry’s website. There is a page posted today that says they have moved into the new home and are setting up shop.

“Settled in” might be an exaggeration - “clinging on” is closer to fact. But yes, we are in, and getting ourselves sorted. The house is being finished around us - we have a cooktop as of today (up to now I’ve been cooking for the family on the barbie). And crude phone and dial-up internet (broadband will take another week or so). We started without hot water, and with one working toilet, so things are definitely on the mend. Actually started today to do some flutemaking, although got cut short by circumstances, but it suggests normality is not far off.
It’s very pretty here. The beaches are lovely, and the wildlife lots of fun. Wallabies (small kangaroos) come up from the bush each night and munch till dawn. I wish Andrew was still with us - he was intrigued by hearing the cockatoos in Canberra over the phone, I don’t know what he’d make of the kookaburras (aka Laughing Jackass) here. They greet every dawn with choruses of laughter. Only the stoniest face could avoid smiling.
It has been interesting being cut off from the rest of the uncivilised world for several weeks (thanks to our incompetant national telecommunications company). There are attractions, as some of our less socially-driven flutemakers would attest. But I’m fighting my way back! Apologies to those who’ve been trying to contact me - I have heaps of email of deal with, and lots of other stuff to do too, so you’ll understand if it takes some time to get to. But I will.

Congratulations. Terry! Moving is always such an ordeal, and moving into not-quite-completed construction a true adventure. I moved my old house (yes, the whole house) about 5 years ago - much simpler because there was no packing involved - but it was 41 days before the electricity came on again. With a well and pump, that meant no water either. As camping goes it was pretty posh, but I got a bit cranky towards the end (so I’m told), as it was mid-November and getting a bit chilly here in Maine.
No Wallabies, koukaburras in sight, alas, nor beaches of your sort. I suspect a lot of us are wondering about a visit. We’ll be watching for few new photos, when you’re wired in again.

Any moose?
moose, white-tail deer, coyotes, raccoons, porcupines, fisher cats, skunks, gray squirrels, red squirrels, and this winter I trapped out 20 (twenty) flying squirrels from the house. I had to start marking the little buggars to convince myself I wasn’t trapping the same ones over and over! Apparently they like to nest together in extensive groups, and the local population decided my place was THE place.
But we digress…
