Hello all. I’m relatively new to this forum stuff, so please bear with me. My son has played the tin whistle for a few years now. When we talk, he talks about rolls, slides, jigs, etc. I just don’t know what these things are. I am musically challenged, though I played recorder back in the golden years. Can anyone help me with this musical terminology?

A lot of terminology can be found on Brother Steve’s page..probably a lot of the lingo you’re hearing has to do with ornaments. Here’s a quick link to that part of the site

Though I do recommend reading the entire tutorial rather than just that part..i’ll expose you to a lot more terms

Wow! Thank you all for your kind welcomes. I never knew I’d be getting this much attention. Anyways, thanks much Wanderer for that link. It’s helping greatly. And Martin, sorry, it was slides. I’m a horrible typist. I guess next stop will be over to the “celebration”.
