Is it possible to cut an mp3-file? I have an mp3 of 3 minutes, but want to use only the first minute of the total track. Is there a program that allows to cut it off after 1 minute??
(You did not say what operating system you are using so I am assuming you are running Windows.) There are lots of different MP3 editors out on the Internet. MP3 Splitter and Joiner is one I use to use a lot. It can be found at http://www.ezsoftmagic.com/. Lately, after getting an MP3 add-on for my Winows Media Player 9 (XP-version), it has turned into my favorite, check http://www.microsoft.com/ for more information on 3rd party add-ons to WMP9.
I record my practice whislte sessions directly on my PC for playback and edit the tunes out into separate files. It is a great way to follow your progress.

I use Cool Edit to manipulate my sound files and what I do to extract a shorter portion of the recording is to select the portion of the file and save that portion as a different file. I have a little concern, however, that saving a portion of an MP3 file as an Mp3 again would result in more compression and some loss of quality.
There is an “mp3 cut” program that does the cut without having to convert the file. I don’t know where it is, but Google knows…
Here’s one, but i think there is a free one too

Gotta go now, but i’ll look again later. Do you have a PC or a Mac?
Goldwave gives you ultra-fine control of cutting and editing. The mp3 compression won’t change.

Thank you all. I began with the first program (MP3 splitter & joiner) and as it worked very well I did not try the other ones.
