Toying with the project of a bizarre whistle, I thought I’d save time starting from a Dixon low whistle head.
So please help materialize this weird Frankenwhistle, aka BZH (Bizarre Zoob Hybrid).
If you have a Dixon low D (tunable or not), could you please measure the inside diameter (=bore) preferably with calipers?
If you have the low E, or F–same request, but please specify the tone.
I don’t have calipers, and I’m not sure I’d know what to do with them if I did.
But I reckon my Dixon low D (non-tunable) has an internal bore of 21mm
Forrest Gump had calipers but he lost them! My Low D Dixon is also 21mm

I’m actually surprised the answer was so unanimous, and the thread hasn’t branched out… yet!
Now for the tie-break question… Anyone ready to part with a Dixon Low D, or head thereoff?
I want to keep mine, thank you. (What is it about the French wanting to remove people’s heads, anyway? )
But Tony Dixon sells the heads separately - you can get them at The Whistle Shop, but in Europe it’s probably easier/faster for you to deal with Tony directly.
Word of warning - the Dixon Tunable Low D has an external tuning slide, so you really need inside/outside measurements of the head itself, not the body.
You’re right. Better hacksaw the non-tunable.
Anyway, a Frenchman (esp. with half-cossack blood) has no fun beheading something if it’s already pre-cut.
Don’t let me stop you (edges slowly away) but I’m pretty sure that because of the external slide the head inside/outside diameter is the same as the body - just wanted to warn you to check first.
Now put down that hack saw . . . GOOOOD COSSACK, NIIIICE COSSACK . . . (runs for it!)
