C.

berti

Wow… that’s beautiful…

Nice work, Jessie, keep it up.

Thanks Beth, Cara, etc.

Yes, I made it. It’s a prototype. I am developing a whistle to offer to people. The whole thing, except for the plug, will be sterling silver. (I am still trying to figure out what to use for the plug. Delrin is the old reliable choice and I may end up with it, but I am considering other options, like laminated wood. I sure wish I could use amber, but that might be cost prohibitive. I am going to look into it.) I think I’ll be ready to send one to Dale in a few months.

I can’t play this one yet, because it doesn’t have a plug! I have to make one. It’ll be on the pure side, not piercingly loud but loud enough. The bottom of the tube will have a ring that matches the triple ring on the mouthpiece. This will be not only decorative, but practical. It will weight the bottom of the tube to offset the weight of the mouthpiece.

I am very excited about this.

Very pretty, Jessie! The plug should be in gold, of course.

aw shoot! I missed the picture. :frowning: From the descriptions it sounds really cool. I can’t wait to see the finished product. I’ve often wondered if you’d ever start making instruments for sale. Congratulations on taking the step. BTW, I think you should offer amber fipple plugs as an option.

-Paul

How did you miss it? It’s there.

I think you should offer amber fipple plugs as an option.

Ok, I’m glad you think so. Maybe I’m not the only nut who would love that. I’ll see if I can.

 It It must be this computer. I’m in a different part of the offices today. I’ll go back to my cubicle in a while and check it again.

now that you’re making whistles, Jessie, maybe we’ll see a full amber one one day like you posted about in the materials thread. That would be magnificent.

Oh. NOW I can see it. Jessie, That’s fantastic!! You have created a very distinctive and beautiful design there. From what I can see in the picture it seems to have the same fluid and living look as your jewelery. Very nice indeed.

-Paul

Yes, that’s what I’m aiming for!

Looks great. Can’t weight to see the finnished product. Ever think of making a D or Bb Fife? Although this looks like a reason to pick up the Whistle

Lovely! I can’t wait to hear one when you get the plug sorted out.

Redwolf

Ok Jessie…put me on your waiting list!! This O’Driscoll HAS TO HAVE ONE!! Very cool…LOVE THE DRISCOLL SIGNATURE!!

Nancy Driscoll Patterson!

I have, indeed, thought of making a d fife. That’s down the road.

Nancy and others, if you would like to preorder (I mean, be on my list, in order), send me an e-mail and I will start a list. The price will be somewhere around $280.

For the plug, while amber would truly be the cats meow how about lucite for a more afordable option? Its’ clearity would compliment the silver very nicely I think… I don’t know, however, if it turns yellow in time like most clear plastics.

Clark

Beautiful work, Jessie-- what we can see anyway
If the bore of the head is perfectly round, I’d be happy to fit a Delrin fipple for you, maybe an exotic wood.
