Anyone know where i can find the digital sheet music for tears of stone by The Chieftains?

Are you looking notation for the Chieftains album “Tears of Stone” (recordings with various woman artists) or the individual piece of music recorded with Carlos Nunez on the Chieftain’s Santiago album?

If you are looking for the Carlos Nunez piece, you will have more luck searching on “NON TE NAMORES MENIÑA” (or variants). That seems to be available in several giata archives or Galician music sites.

Don’t expect to find a note for note transcription.

Assuming it is the Carlos Nunez piece, lovely piece it is, I thought that it is a traditional Asturian or Galician tune. I could be mistaken though. What do I know of Asturian music? If it is then it should be out there at least in a sparse setting. I do not speak the language though so going through some of those sites is not exactly easy for me.

There are also several versions by Carlos Nunez on YouTube. Some are with orchestras, the Chieftains or just Carlos’ own band. It can certainly be transcribed from some of those performances using the usual tools to slow down the video/audio.

And there is a straightforward whistle version played on YouTube with which the tune can certainly be sussed out by repeated fastidious viewings. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=btJhdhEMNgw

I do have to say that this is one of those tunes that will moistens the eyes when it is played in concert by Carlos Nunez. He’s got the stuff.

Apparently it is a Gallician tune called “Non te enamores mi niña”. (Must be true, I read it on the internet (about a quarter of the page down).

No dots or abcs but a recording of the tune…

It’s not note-for-note concordant with the setting on Santiago, but it’s not bad. Hope it helps.
