Hey all,
Does anybody offhand know a good version online or in a bookstore that someone might share with their child? Thanks!
Best,
Paul

I’m not sure that Tam Lin is a ballad I’d share with a child…it’s pretty dark!

Not sure if you’re looking for the folktale, the Child ballad 39, the song, or the ITM tune.
This Wikipedia article has some listings: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tam_Lin
Maybe one of the retellings might be appropriate.
I have a “retelling” of the story. Its in my book shelf somewhere. The Wiki MT lists has it as Tam Lin by Pamela Dean. It set in contemporary America at a small liberal arts college.
My girls read it when they were 12/14 or so. You probably need to read it yourself and see if its appropriate.
Jane Yolen did a pretty good retelling. Nice illustrations too…

Big thanks, Feadan!
That’s perfect. It’s always better to get a recommendation than to play Russian roulette by just picking something that looks like it might be good. Although I have used that technique to find a few excellent CDs over the years I am more often disappointed in my selections.

That’s an excellent book. I reread it every couple of years or so.

This seems a relatively mild version: http://www.gutenberg.org/files/14241/14241-h/14241-h.htm#Tamlane
