take a look at this one

Hi all,

I am in hungary at the moment, my wife did me proud and won this keyed
whistle/flute thing on ebay along with another that looks like a fife, so my question is too all you experts out there, ( what is it, and what was it used for originally / school instrument??? military??? I won’t get my hands on it until I return next week. I will try and pick up my messages from the back of beyond, the seller sent me these images, as far as I can see it has six keys all working and it is 30 cm in lenght, and has various wording but Sonora is carved into the front, the build quality looks very good. its made of wood not sure what type and the fipple plug is very light probably cedar, I dont think its a frankenstein whistle as the two parts look like they are meant to be together. the second was flute like and was 38 cm’s long.

any info appreciated. I have posted on the whistle forum as well

cheers sponge

Blooming heck! a keyed recorder!
(… the experts can answer now)

Chris

I think it is a keyed Fippolo!

Hi, it looks like a spanish instrument called “Pito de llaves” from Castilla area. It was used for dulzaina -traditional shawm or popular oboe- training. This shawm is too loud to play at home so players use this recorder with the same fingering.

You’ll see similar instruments at this web -spanish- click on “Aerofonos”:
