I’m trying to learn how to play Toss the Feathers, but there’s an odd symbol that I’m not familiar with, it looks like this: ~ It’s found below/above most of the quarter notes in this reel.
My sister thinks it’s a trill, but I’d like a bit of clarification, thanks.
it’s probably a roll. Go to following pages for complete explanation of varieties and execution:

Good luck!
Yep, that’s a roll! I know because the playing of them still eludes me! ![]()
Bears a remarkable resemblance to a ‘turn’.
It’s one of them one size fits all multi purpose signs. Play it as a turn, roll, backflip, gate valve, or weinershniztle. Also shines silver and stops squeeks.
It’s a desert topping AND a floor polish!!
Keep posting, VB.
You’re makin’ me smile 'bout every day.
Best wishes,
Jerry
I always thought a gate valve was noted “X”. Besides, I’d NEVER play Toss the Feathers with a gate valve.
That’s a little creepy.
Well, my opinion IS stupid and wrong.
Yeah, but it is a good opinion and worthy of a hearty chuckle now and then. ![]()

Ah, thanks. Though I’m thinking it’s a bit advanced for me to try a roll right now, I’ll fiddle around with that a bit. Thanks for the link, as well.
That is great if you are a fiddler! If you are whistler, you might try whistling around with it. ![]()
