I have been playing only flute now for a few months, and today I switched back to whistle for fun. I am now having trouble with the A and B rolls on the D whistle. It is no problem on the flute, but my finger is having trouble doing the cut before the tap on the higher octaves on the whistle. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Go back to the flute? ![]()
Good suggestion, I just might do that. ![]()
Try holding the whistle sideways and playing it out of the corner of your mouth?

Keep at it. Your rolls with be back, shortly.
When I went back to playing whistle after being ill, I had lost all my “ornamentation” skill to start with - most upsetting. It came back after a couple of days, though, so don’t despair!
Thanks guys, it did come back. I just had to warm up a lot. ![]()
