Do Sweetheart Irish Flutes in D come with a tuning slide if they are made out of something other than rosewood.

The rosewood Sweet flutes are not shown on his website as having a slide.
The one I have does not even have rings. An early version, no doubt.
You supposedly can tune with the length of tenon just fine.
Andrew - does that hold true in your experience?

There are keyed Sweet flutes in blackwood,
which have a tuning slide–but the ones we
are talking about don’t have them.
One must use the tenon.
In my experience the flutes
are in tune with the tenon
all the way closed, but
it’s hard to go sharp if one
needs. I have a g fife by sweet
which is flat when cold and
this can actually be a problem.
Ten years ago he was offering a tunable rosewood flute, but I don’t know if he still does.
It plays in tune.
I don’t know what use a slide would be.
I suppose if it gets warm and changes pitch a bit I could wave it about to cool it off.
An auto-sell function would be handy !

Perhaps we should not disturb him as he needs all his time to work out how to leave the bore of his flutes less ragged.
