Does anyone have any information on this year’s Swannanoa? (spelling) Yesterday, their website still listed last year’s schedule.
Also, any feedback from past attenders would be great!
I just wondered who’s teaching this year, etc.
Thanks, Jeanie

As far as I know, Kevin Crawford will teach an intermediate/advanced flute class and a beginner flute class. There will also most likely be a parallel intermediate/advanced class but I don’t know who will teach it. I will ask John Skelton for more info when I see him at Riley School this Saturday.
I highly recommend the experience. I have never been to Augusta, so I can’t make a comparison, but I have been told that Swannaoa has better food and accomodations. I was in Kevin’s class for the last two years and learned enough to keep me going for a lifetime. It would be useful to get familiar with sight-reading tunes in “ABC” format unless you have a quick ear and a retentive memory (I have neither!).

Thanks, Dave! Swannanoa may be the ticket this year. I’ll keep checking their website.
Thanks, Jeanie
Thanks for passing this one on. Unfortunately, the link to the pdf file for registration hangs my machine up, and I don’t know any other way to reach them. ![]()
I had a great time at the Swan guitar week a few years ago. As far as the food goes, though… I hope they have a new caterer.

Send me your e-mail address and I’ll “attach” a copy to you - I don’t see a way to attach stuff using PM.

I don’t mean to hijack a thread here, Jeanie, but I think I am going to try to make it to the Timber Flute Festival this year. It’s still early for a final decision though. ![]()
Jeanie,
I got the impression that was 2008’s schedule (I clicked on the link that said “Coming Next Summer”), but they forgot to change the headers because in other places in the newsletter they said things like “2007 classes filled up fast”, etc. And the July 13-19 dates announced for 2008 line up with what’s on the newsletter.
? So maybe … ?
Was Kevin a teacher there last year?
I think I remember hearing that he was, but I’m not sure.
Yes, I remember Kevin said he’d been at Swannanoa the week before Augusta. Thanks for checking those dates, Cathy.
Hmmmm. What to do, what to do?
Jeanie
Well, as much as I’d like to go to several of them, the Beth and Lane are set on Augusta, so I’ll be there again this year. Now I just need to decide whether to sign up for John’s class or Marcus Hernon’s…
I’ll be going again and hoping to see DCopley and some other folks. It’s been a great experience for me for the past three years.
I’ll be going again and looking forward to seeing Wormdiet again, as well as many others.
The int/adv flute instructors last year were Kevin Crawford and Sean Keane (the singer, not the fiddle player). Although the staff lineup for this year doesn’t appear to be complete yet, both Kevin and Sean are mentioned in the preliminary information. But since Sean is primarily a singer it’s not certain that he will be teaching flute again.
