Finally, my experiences in the realm of whistling are about to be extended. I bought three Susato Whistles (Low F,G, & A) from The Whistle Shop.
I am one happy whistler! I spent an hour this morning breathing into these slightly wide (especially the G) bore whistles.
I had no trouble getting into the 2nd octave as I have a fairly good breathing technique from my days as an opera singer.
I did have some trouble getting the lowest note out of the Low F. My fingers are just not quite wide enough in the spread to cover that bottom hole, and I have a tendency to send too much air into the shaft - so I immediately go into the upper range.
All in all, I am very pleased, and will get down to serious practice sessions. ![]()
I really appreciated reading through the threads describing the difference between the Dixon and the Susato Whistles.
(For you Dixon lovers, that’s the next whistle I’ll be trying out!)
