I’m in the process of having a half set made, and the maker pads the bellows with ultra suede. I’d like to get it in a different color than what is usually offered. Does anyone know of someone that carries ultra suede?

Your profile doesn’t mention where you live, Baen, and your post doesn’t mention the makers location either, which makes it difficult to suggest a local supplier.

As an interesting alternative to ultrasuede, you might like to consider using water buffalo hide…the type I have used is extremely soft and makes good bellows pads.

Much obliged for the information! Quite a range of colors available, although didn’t see the specific color I was interested in, so will check with fabric upholstery shops. I’ll pass the water buffalo hide idea on to the maker and see what he thinks. I’d rather have a non-synthetic anyway, if possible.

Around here most of the regular fabrics and sewing type stores carry at least a small selection. Arts and crafts stores too.
At a local leather store (once upon a time was a Tandy Leather franchise) I found a nice black lambskin to cover the bellows padding.Very soft and should last a long while. I used memory foam from a local foam outlet for the padding. Very comfortable.
