WOW, what a game!
Who won?
Well, who was playing?
(I don’t really do the sports thing.
)
And were the commercials any good?

Wow! That’s really all I can say…I’m still too stunned to say anything else. It was a fantastic game. My Patriots fan wasn’t too happy, but goodness! It was the best Superbowl game I’ve watched in quite some time.

Truly don’t understand what all the fuss is.
Now the world cup - THAT’S a match!
Thank god all that yelling is finally over with. How can you stand it? The audience noise. It drives me crazy.
Even thought the Giants put the Buccs out of the playoff, I am still happy they won.
So I take it the Giants winning over the Patriots is an upset, as it were?
Very much so…the Patriots were undefeated going into the Superbowl, so logically speaking, they had the game in the bag. No one really expected the Giants to win. Both teams played well (nice change for a Superbowl, let me tell you!), and it was quite enjoyable to watch. But I agree the noise was overwhelming at times.
Yes, it was. I especially liked the penalty for uneccessary roughness when the one puppy started shaking the referee chew toy!
Probably the biggest Super Bowl upset ever, even bigger than the Jets sunning the Baltimore Colts.

I love it when i make the right call cheering for the underdog team.

I can’t wait to harass the "blowout " crowd tomorrow at work. I predicted a close game and refused to accept that it was a done deal by the Pats. I just kept thinking of the Giants defense and that earlier season game.
Best part, no weird flags and controversial calls to argue over. In fact, there really weren’t a lot of penalties in general and nobody “wuz robbed.” I think that of the two teams, the Pats offensive line lost a bit more composure with a coupla offsides that they couldn’t afford.
I couldn’t figure out why the Pats didn’t adapt with a Bill Walsh dink-n-dunk game (lots of short passes and screens). Brady tried too many long passes that he didn’t have time to throw. Maybe spoiled on success, I dunno..
Look, it’s just a sporting event and incredibly over-hyped at that, but its hard not to read in a little more to it with this particular game.
To me, this was a triumph of PATIENCE by the Giants, to a man. It was exceptionally so. They kept the lid on throughout the game, with only one series yielded. But they, both offense and defense, never gave up their objective. I found it inspirational in that regard. I admire those guys and can’t help but feel they must have a really solid coaching core (I am not up on them, being a left-coaster). Brady, to his credit, didn’t pout and make faces, like Marino did when the Niners whupped him. And Brady did get pounded, over and over. I don’t think you can really say he choked. He just did not have any options and they didn’t have a contingency game plan to apply.
I think it’s one of the best SB games I can remember. For one of the few times, it was really worth watching. And I was fully prepared to ignore the whole thing, like many do. I’m glad I watched.
Brady will just have to go home and polish his other three rings and his bonus for having played in the final. Boo-hoo. As a diehard Joe Montana fan, I’m not exactly heartbroken. Besides, there is always next year for him.
I muted the halftime and I didn’t care much for this batch of commercials, except maybe the talking baby.
I have to admit that I really don’t get American football at all. Just never been into it. Baseball, now…
But I had a lovely time at a Superbowl party, ate way too much (good thing Lent starts in just a few days!), downed a few G&Ts (it was an Anglican choir Superbowl party…the best kind) and cheered for the Giants out of habit (Though I got odd looks when I gave in to an irresistible impulse to shout “Beat L.A.!”

Martin stayed up to watch the game - here, kickoff was at something insane like midnight. I didn’t stay up, because they don’t show the US commercials here, and that’s the only part of the Superbowl that I really like.
It was an amazing game, my hats off to the Giants and especially their defense, who really shut brady down except for that one drive at the end of the game.
SSurprisingly, i wasnt wowed by too many of the commercials this year. I liked them, but the only ones i think that got me really laughing was the one with the lizards dancing to thriller (think it would have been better without the girl dancing and just focused on the lizards) and the dorito one where the mouse jumps out and starts beating the guy down. Some others had me chuckling, but not many stuck out as being extraordinary last night.
