I live in Florida and we do get some of the best winds Nature can offer. But in regard to weather anywhere, it’s not really about what you’re used to as much as it is what you’re prepared for.
The folks in the North West got nailed, plain and simple… and they were prepared. It’s not like this sort of thing never happens there, but sometimes things turn out worse than most folk imagine they will.
I honestly think that making light of it is in poor taste and shows a lack of compassion that I find unacceptable. There are vast numbers of people here in Florida still trying to put things back together after Charlie. There are folk in New Orleans and all along the gulf coast who will be trying to do so for years.
I think we ought to cut the victims of this latest storm a break, OK?
