Stolen Fiddle!!!

From Cork piper Eoin O Riabhaigh at:

Ted Sweeney, a well known fiddle player from Killeshandra would appreciate it if everyone would keep an eye out for his fiddle, which went missing during the festival in Drumshambo, Co. Leitrim on Friday the 25th of July at 12.30am. It was on a window sill between Paddy Mac’s and Doherty’s, and inside the green cloth case, apart from the bow and fiddle, was a big box of rosin, two small boxes of rosin and the notes of an O’Riada tune. As you can imagine he is totally devastated over it and would appreciate any help in recovering it. Can ye all forward this to anyone you can think of. It might get a result. The more people on the lookout the better.

Thanxs,
Demaris Woods

Nasty business this. Perhaps if you told us a little more about the fiddle, identifying marks etc., we’d have a better chance of finding it. (Not that I expect it to turn up in Wollongong.) It wouldn’t be hard for the thief to change the case and that’s all we have to go on. I hope Ted gets it back soon.

Strangely enough, no identifying marks on the fiddle. I’m just sending on the description that was sent to me by Eoin this afternoon which I suppose he got from someone else …

Awww, my heart goes out to him… Nothing on earth is worse than losing a beloved instrument, or having it stolen.

I can think of a few things.
