I have been fabricating the silver tubes… Anyone have an idea of where I can get Sterling Silver Tube with an inside diameter… ID = .600 ? Thanks, -Ty
You can check the usual jewelry supply houses. I can’t exactly say you’ll find tube with as .6" i.d. though.
You may have to have it custom drawn or re-draw it yourself. ![]()

Their sizes stop just shy of what you are looking for. Good luck.

Caswell Inc. is a great source for having silver tubing made to order… Talk to Laurea. http://www.caswellplating.com
ALLIED SUPPLY – No web site but has a great supply of silver slide tubing and tools.
I assume that’s the folks in Elkhorn, Wisconsin. If so, they are a well respected, long-time supplier to the instrument repair trade and part of Getzen, I think.
I only know Caswell as a supplier of plating materials. I’ve looked at their anodizing kits. I didn’t know they could supply solid silver tubing. Nice to know.

You are right, Caswell does nickel silver plating, it is not solid silver.

Talk to Debbie… They do a Nickel Silver Series.
Still looking for large size solid silver tubing… Any ideas ?
No I don’t have any new ideas on silver, Ty. I just don’t use silver at this point. I think custom drawn tube is what you might need to look at. Minimum orders might be an issue too. Good luck.
I use brass for tuning slides, mouthpiece collars and rings on many of my whistles now. Brass is readily available in the sizes I need. I will however be interested in sourcing material for use as flute tuning slides down the road. Those would require diameters larger than anything I use now but I’ll probably start off using brass or nickel. Thanks for the mention of Industrial Tube Corp. I actually know where ITC is located. I used to work in that part of NJ (son still does). I’ll keep them in mind when I need nickel tubes.

If you can’t find the proper diameter, you can spin down Silver/German Silver tubing to the proper ID on a Lathe Mandrel. The technique is simple for anyone familiar with lathe work.
