I think I just figured out who Dionys Murphy is. I’ll present the evidence later, but anyone want to join a little game of P.I. here?
Hint: Dionys first posted in Aug 2001, and last posted in May 2003. About 2 months later this apparent new guy started posting and changed his personality completely. This apparent new guy also posted under another name for a very short time in Nov 2001. 
Take a guess.
Umm … umm … is he a 15’ tall purple squid? 
Or … um … oh, I know! Does he live in fear of men in balaclavas? Is he splay-toed and quacks like a duck?
Oh, darn. This is just too tough for me. Give us a hint!

I would have never given it much thought if Walden hadn’t posted again. And seeing some of Dionys old posts on there, I started thinking about it. I took some key words and phrases (that I heard again recently) and put them in “search” and lo and behold both author’s names came up frequently.
Maybe we shouldn’t reveal this unless he chooses to confess (in good humor) because otherwise it might get a little bloody around here. It would be fun though, if he could take a little ribbing, to present the evidence little at a time.

Did you type in that infamous pipemakers name under search, “keywords” and type Dionys under “author” to see how both promote the maker? Or did you notice all the sets of pipes Dionys has owned or won on eBay, or the lathe he bought, then apparently gave up on? Some interesting stuff there, eh dude? Need more clues? Try common Gaelic expressions. And try…(oh not yet–it’s a good one )

Oh yes, I see what you mean. Actually, I just looked at the Walden thread, and extrapolated carefully from the language. It’s surprising how recognisable people’s writing style is. Checking dates on profiles was all the evidence I needed. It’s a good thing I’m not a hanging judge
