St. Louis Area Flute instructors?

There’s a chance that at some point in the not too distant future I may be in St. Louis for 2 months strait. Since I’ve got access to exactly zero (ITM) Flute instructors where I live, I’d desperately like to find a good instructor for a few months if I end up in St. Louis - Anyone know of someone in that area?

You may want to try contacting St. Louis Irish Arts
http://www.slia.org
They list tin whistle lessons on their web site, though not flute, but it is possible they have someone who can teach flute there. The other possibility would be Grey Larsen in Bloomington, Indiana. I would guess it is about a 3-4 hour drive from St. Louis.

Thanks for the info Dave.

I’d dearly love to be able to catch up with Grey, however if I end up in St. Louis, my schedule will be such that making the 3-4 hour drive to Bloomington and back won’t be an option. Darn shame though, I’ve heard very good things about Grey.

Check with Musicfolk in Webster Grove. http://musicfolk.com/
They’re very tuned into the local folk music scene, including local teachers. They are more folk oriented than IRTrad, but there’s a very good chance they can point you in the right direction.

her husband, Bernie, is a guitar player who (i think) still does Sunday and Monday’s at McGurk’s pub in Soulard.
The Irish ARts folks (Helen Gannon is the director) would know how to reach Barb. Tell them I sent you, as I used to teach for Helen’s organization.
The Arts classes were on Tuesdays, and afterward we instructors would head over to McGurk’s for a few pints and chicken wings (best you’ll have anywhere…promise!) and listen to the new acts in town. New groups play Tues-Sat there, so Tues was a great night with no crowds.

If you want session contacts there, let me know. I was just out there a couple months ago and they tossed together a session for me and it was great. We were at a pub in the west side, in the Westport Plaza.
