Squeaky Regs... what's the fix?

On the bottom two notes of the tenor regs, I’m experiencing some squeaks from them - as though they want to be in the upper octave.

The upper notes are fine, and reasonably steady under pressure, but with the same level of pressure, it’s just the two bottom notes that squeal.

Does anyone in the know have a fix for this problem?

Thanks,

Brian

Too much winding on the rush up under the vent holes?
Open the reed a little more?
Temp too hot and too dry, reed has closed down?
Junk loose in the reg bore?
Leaking pad above the notes?
Levers not opening the vent hole enough?

Just a start, Brian  Good dry Colorado summer’s luck! Colorado, right?

Thanks, Lorenzo for the ideas.

I can exclude a couple of them, I think - so far, the regs are not rushed, because they are more flat than sharp, and as yet I haven’t needed a rush in them (knock on arundo donax).

As for the ideas about the reed opening, I’ll double check that this evening, as well as the bores, for FOD (foreign object damage).

So far this spring, Colorado has been on the humid side - imagine that! But it won’t last, it never does.

Thanks again,
Brian

I’ve lived in Colorado a couple different times, above Ft. Collins, and Alamosa (San Lois Valley–the wetback capital of the world). I piped one summer with an Irish band in Durango, called Wild Geese Ceili Band. I had a Robbie Hughes 1/2 set that worked great. Was kind of fond of that set. Use light weight soft cane (the sink test), it works fine at 6700 ft and little humidity. Tim Britton came piping through the San Luis valley once, south central Colo.
