spring flares

This is an unglamorous pot, but here are the bulbs I planted last fall.

The crocus are already withered away, and the alliums and lilies aren’t come yet.

Wherever flowers grow is glamorous. Our crocuses are gone too. Our tulips haven’t bloomed yet. I’m hoping they hold off long enough for Easter.

The weird thing about my tulips is that the packaging showed flowers the deep red color of blood, and that’s what I was expecting, but they popped out bubblegum pink! :astonished:

:stuck_out_tongue:

They’re lovely, Jack  I wish I could smell the hyacinths!

Who’s Hyacinth? :boggle:

She’s in the bucket. Sticks out like a sore thumb.

I love her! She’s one of my favorite people!

I wonder if the tulips bloomed early because of their home and the unseasonably warm weather we’ve had recently? well, until today anyway. My tulips are up, but not blooming just yet. The daffodils and hyacinth are strutting their stuff.

It never matters what “flares” are planted in, just that they are planted and they are happy.

Great thread title  I wonder who besides Walden will pronounce it correctly?

I’m no flower expert but I think Jack’s tulips came up way early because they were in a flower pot against a white reflective background and the soil in the flower pot was able to warm up a whole lot quicker than if the tulips were planted directly in the ground with less sunshine. I don’t know how much direct sunlight Jack’s tulips get but whatever amount they received was increased by the reflective background.

My whole town’s tulips are up! It’s not just the ones on my porch!

I think I’m a warmer zone than you two.

P.S. Do you see the blue and green ho and rake in the corner? Those are kids tools you can get at Wal-Mart for $5, and they’re so much easier to use than the full-sized ones!

I’m jealous - up here in Zone 5 it snowed today. Didn’t stick, but it was snow nonetheless. My crocuses are blooming, but the tulips are only about 2 inches high. The forsythia isn’t even showing color yet.

ew…snow! Poor you! I think we’re supposed to get a bit tomorrow…sigh.

Here in Zone 4, we have nothing growing as of yet. You can see patches of green in the grass, but that’s about it. But, the sap is flowing, so maple sugaring time is upon us!

Nice, flowers.
Still waiting for the first flowers of spring up here.
I should take out my camera and make sure that it ready.

Siberian Squill, blood root and trout lily should be popping up within the next month.

The grill is waiting and ready for the summer weekends…

I thought it was more like “flar”, as in:

Oh, I long to see him and regret the dark ar.
He’s gone and neglected this pale wildwood flar.

My bloodroots are almost done, my trout lilies are at their peak and trilliums and foamflowers are coming on now. Our hepaticas, spring beauties, and skunk cabbage bloomed in February. My whole family no matter where, grills all winter long.
One of my sisters in northern Wisconsin has grilled this year when the temp was -20, hard to beat a fresh grilled chicken in the middle of winter. Of course the bar and wolves can make getting to the grill interesting at times.

No. I meant “flowers.” Flowers, flares, flours, and flairs all sound the same to us.

They’re purty.
