Chris cracks me up

Liz Carrol is superb.
The reason I didn’t mention her in my list was that only “pure drop” recordings were requested.
My favorite is “Lost in the Loop”.
Best,
Chris
I don’t know about the Green Fields of America CD, but I hope it’s good! Give us your review when you get it.
Best,
Chris
P.S. - Do you have Martin’s newest CD? If so, care to give us a quick review?
Chris, I don’t have Martin’s latest CD. The only one I have is Lonesome Touch.
Once I receive the CD’s I will give a review on the ‘Green Fields of America’
P.S. I managed to listen to the Moving Cloud CD last night at home through Real Player ~ your review is spot on, I really enjoyed it ~ thanks…
Regarding Moving Cloud, I could not put it nearly as eloquently as Chris did, but I can say that I love their music. They are one of the reasons that I became interested in this type of music.
I was fortunate enough to participate in a ceili that they played at several years ago in Gaithersburg, Maryland. All I can say is that because of the music, all the dancers were better that evening.
All the Best, Tom
I got my order from Green Linnet yesterday! Here’s what I ordered 14 days ago:
“The Tailor’s Choice” (Joe Burke, flute)
“The Russell Family” (Micho, Pakie, & Gussie Russell on flutes, whistles, concertina)
“Molloy/Brady/Peoples” (Matt Molloy, flute, Paul Brady, guitar, Tommy Peoples, fiddle)
“Street Life” (Patrick Street)
“The Lonesome Touch” (Martin Hayes, fiddle & Dennis Cahill, guitar)
“Whisper of a Secret” (Deanta, with singer Mary Dillon)
A mix of old school and newer takes. I don’t know where to begin! I wish I could upload them all into my brain at once! I can’t wait to know every song by heart.

Well folks, here’s a little story…
Last week my wife and I were in Las Vegas for the Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge-Mopar announcement show. It was a lot of fun. Very interesting. Well, besides all the car stuff they had these casinos everywhere… Anyway, I got little lucky at the slots and the roulette table and left several hundred dollars to the good.
Well, it is a rare occaision when Pauly has that much mad-money in his pocket. Of course I knew I would spend at least some of it it on something Irish Music related (maybe another whistle? A silver Copeland Low D?) and then give the rest to my better half. Then I read this thread about the Green Linnet sale yesterday… and today I ordered 57 CDs and 1 tape. ![]()
WHAT A DEAL! Good timing, huh?
I can’t wait until my crate of CDs arrives!! Thanks for posting the info, Amar!

you’re very welcome pauly…57cds..
well, I had the cash, and they had the sale. What do they say? Strike while the iron’s hot right?
Since I play mostly by ear, I figure this can be kind of a reference library of session tunes and stuff for me. I am SO excited!

LVII?
I’d like to add that tunes from CDs most of time are NOT session tunes, and most of the people I know who get their music from CDs end up playing their own repertoire, and by themselves. I’m not saying it’s bad, just not to confuse the two. The best way to learn session tunes is to record, well, good sessions…

Yomo Toro is a national hero in Puerto Rico where he has made significant contributions to preserving the folk tradition of Jibaro music, the mountain music of PR. It’s great stuff and analagous to endangered folk music traditions around the world.
Enjoy!

First off, I did not get 57. But I did get a few. Seeing how it was a special day last week, and the Home Ruler being a bit busy, I told her about the 3+3 deal and offered to take the stress of selecting something for me off her hands. “Great!” the Home Ruler said, “you can get six CDs that way.”
“That’s right,” I replied, “and then they’ll send me six more for free.” hehehe. Oh, and I did throw in a few of the $4 cassettes. (But I think I am pretty much done with GL now, there’s much in their Catalog that doesn’t interest me.)
So here’s the list:
CDs:
Liz Carroll: Liz Carrol
Relativity: Gathering Pace
*Seamus Connolly: Notes from my mind
Joe Derrane w/Felix Dolan: Give us another
Mick Moloney w/ Eugene O’Donnell
Lunasa: Ferry Misters of Sate
*Frankie Gavin: Frankie Goes to Town (gotta love the cover)
*The Russell Familie: Miko, Pakie, and Gussie
Martin Hayes/Dennis Cahill: Live in Seattle
*Jack & Charlie Coen: The Branch Line
Kevin Crawford: In Good Company
*Seamus Ennis: Fourty Years of Irish Piping
These are the cassettes I got:
The Irish Tradition: Corner House
The Irish Tradition: The Times We’ve Had
Saling Into Walpole’s March (Corcoran, Ni Dhomhnaill, Donnelly, Clark)
*Eugene O’Donnell: Slow Airs and Set Dances
*Seamus Ennis: The Wandering Minstrel
*Tommy Reck: The Stone in the Field
*John Doherty: Bundle and Go
John Faulkner: Kind Providence
*Clare Concertinas: Bernard O’Sullivan & Tommy McMahon
*Joe Shannon & John McGreevy: The Noonday Feast
The ones I’ve marked with an asterisk are the ones I am particularly curious and excited about. Some of the others are easy & fun listening (Relativity, Lunasa) for when I want to put on some music but the Home Ruler will not put up with an hour of historic master piping or that “out of tune” fiddling. ![]()
