Somewhere recently I buried a request for how to tell the various Marks of Feadogs apart. Well buried - no replies. So..
In the whistle drawer lurks a brass D with a raised lump on top and a raised half moon above the blade; a nickel D that is straight across the top and has a straight blade; and a nickel C that has the raised lump on top and a straight blade.
Which is which, please? Then I’ll tell you which is the only one that doesn’t need surgery… :roll:

The Mk II has a green bump-like thing. That’s as much as I know…
Mark III has no bump. I’ve never seen a Mark I. Cranberry is correct. Mark II has a bump. I would vote Mark II.
Someone a while back posted a real good picture of all three. I just cant remember who or when(hey that would make a good song). Anyway I am probably the only one here who has never had either,iether. Oh I did have an improved but that doesnt count and I didn`t realy like it.

That picture’s hard to find. I’ve tried a couple of times in the last month or two without success. It’s a great picture, though. It wasn’t that long ago that it was posted, either.

I also tried to find the thread but no luck. If this picture shows the whistles are from the bottom, Feadog mk2 brass, Feadog mk3 painted, Feadog mk3 brass and Feadog mk3 nickle. I prefer the painted body, I’ve swapped mouthpieces and while it makes a difference it can’t make the bad ones good. The mk2 and the mk3 nickle are my worst.

Nice picture…so..my nickel D is a Mark III and plays quite well - except that the anchor note is peculiar and doesn’t play steadily.
But…there’s still the raised half moon on the ramp on the D with the bumpy head, whilst the C hasn’t got one (and is a 'orrible whistle). So, is one a II and one a I?
