First, This is what I’m doing, With all the talk about “Sniperscope Equipped Generation Bb’s” I’ve decided to model one. The scope, rings, bipod, and the whistle tube itself is done, HOWEVER..I’ve NEVER seen a Generation Bb.
Second. What I need.. If someone with a digital camera could take Three aspect shots of a Gen Bb mouthpiece and send them to me via e-mail, I’d appreciate it. I intend to render it into a picture and I’ll send it to Dale and Anna Martinez when its done.
Thanks
Dan
FWIW, it looks just like any other modern Gen, only proportionately larger. The nickel model has a blue plastic fipple, the brass whistle’s fipple is red. As long as you don’t show the key decal, you could use a blown-up picture of a Gen C or D and just resize the other graphical elements as necessary.
Nope..I’m not doing a 2D thing , This is all 3D created in MAX. I can just see someone posting “Hey , The mouthpiece isnt right for that whistle”..Or “Gee, The holes arent like that at all”

Does “three aspect shots” mean plan, profile, elevation?

Dan,
Here’s a 3D model I did of my Burke wide bore session pro brass. Modeled and rendered in Bryce(2 or 4). The background is just a 2d texture background and I made the bottom of the whistle slightly transparent to mimic reflection.
Tony
Why’d you have to mimic the reflection ?
I’ll be rendering the whistle in Truespace 4.3..IF I can ever get the damn mouthoiece to look right…Right now it looks …added on…Might be a scale/shape problem. Thats why I need the actual mouthpiece so I can get the scale of it to the actual whistle

Because, however my mind was working, I didn’t render the background in Bryce, but added it in Painter. The whistle on the Clips page is the earlier Burke model whistle. The rest of that was done in Painter5. (Go to Michael Burke’s website to see my weird “excalibur” hand holding a whistle out of the water. That’s all Bryce.)

For just a few dollars you can own a Generation Bb. And when you are finished taking pictures of it, you can then try to get the darn thing to work! JP
Heh..If you look in the Contents CD, You’ll see a folder Called textures, In it is some of my textures we made during the Beta process. The model itself looked great and I didnt think the background was too shabby either. The only problem with the pic was the texture itself. Bryce never did get Brass down right, Its always rendered it with a Green tint, Or it could be my monitor.
There isnt any place close to here that sells Gens…I know..I’ve looked, There is a music store in Mt Vernon, Half an hours drive from here, There might be an off chance of finding one there. I’ll just keep trying to find a pic of one.

Honey Bunny, that music store is an hour’s drive from here! LOL! We live in whistle waistland. We did however suggest to all of the music store owners in town that they should carry penny whistles. We revisted one the other day. He very proudly told us that he had ordered some Clarke’s. YES!
