Sorry, all, especially Loren --I was just being silly

Omigosh! I’m a complete idiot! I thought everyone on this board knew that!

First, Loren, it was late. I needed a rhyme, and your name had the correct number of syllables. I meant it in jest, and certainly not as a poke at you! You’ve been a great help to me, and I acknowledge that, and in fact, have said so on several occasions right here. I hold no ill will of any kind toward you.

People, Loren isn’t a liar. The rhyme was in fun, and I actually hoped he’d get a chuckle out of it. Sorry it backfired.

The “troll” post was another faux pas on my part, even though it was, in context, more appropriate, given that the protagonist was in that case (IMO), egging someone on. Still, as it’s a Verry, Verry Auld thing to say, coming as it does, from Ancient Newsgroup Runes, I also considered it silly. Sorry you didn’t.

Now both of you unknot your knickers. If you want to jab back at Bill or Serpent with stupid doggerel of the nature you just saw, please, jab away! I promise not to get all bent out o’ shape!

Please, Dale, let 'em beat me up a bit. I deserve it for treading on sensitive feelings, I guess. Mea culpa, sort of, but certainly no evil intent!

Cheers
Bill Whedon, Professional Village Eedjit

P.S. (edit) - I’ve made some minor changes, putting Serpent in as the thinker-upper of new lies, and Loren as the hypnotist. I also changed the character of Dale a bit. I think it’s better!

Lament for Poor Bill the Serpent
air by Walden

Bill Serpent sought to spin a rhyme,
He rhymed it all so well.
But killed the Sickening thread this time,
We hear its death bell knell.

Oh Loren felt that his name was impugned,
By what the Serpent’s rhyme said,
For words said in jest may oftentimes wound,
And now It’s Sickening’s dead!

The thread of threads is dead is dead!
Oh! the thread of threads is dead!
Life won’t be the same since the thread is dead!
For Dale locked it down and it’s dead!

No problem.

Walden, thanks! Very spiffy rhyme, BTW.

Loren, I know you’re out there, and hope you’re feeling better about things. I say it again: The rhyme was meant in jest. If it hurt your feelings, I sorrow, and have done what I can to make it right. And if ever we meet somewhere, I’ll buy you a good brew or two, and maybe we can laugh together and listen to (or even play) some good whistle music.

Let’s get back to whistles and having fun!
Cheers,
