Sore left thumb

I’ve just got my new Seery delrin flute from Custy’s, and I’ve been enjoying it.

However, when I play I don’t know why, but I always apply a lot of pressure onto my left hand while I’m playing, causing my thumb to become quite sore. (I’m a right hander). I don’t apply as much pressure on my right hand thumb, so it is not affected. Is it because I’m allowing my left thumb to take the weight of the flute, or is it I’m not relaxing it?

Make sure you’re not hanging off of your flute with your right arm, i.e. pulling down, thus putting pressure on the LH thumb. Cheers,

Rob

Thank you, that helped!
