This ad takes quite a long time to download even on DSL, but for me it was worth it.
I found it dazzling just in terms of what was happening with the colors and music,
but I found that I had a very strong and unexpected emotional reaction to it as well.
Maybe download it when you need to go do something else.
There are some pictures and another video on the site that show how it was set up.
I was trying to be elegant, djm! I even put a little sign by it!
They talked a bit about the clown in the shorter video about how they made the ad. It had something to do with the clown building up the suspense before the big final reverse-demolition (their term). They said something about the clown adding a human element.
I didn’t like the clown at first. It seemed intrusive. The more I watch it the more I wonder about it. He divides, I think, the ad into two parts. The first part seems pretty light-hearted, I guess I might put it. The music, except for the drum tattoo at the very beginning, is a sort of swirly waltz, I guess. Then the clown runs by. The music changes, much heavier, sort of martial, I don’t know. The reverse-demoliton of the building happens and then the bombs of paint start coming down. At least they look more like bombs to me than the things in the beginning, which looked more like fountains, although I could be imagining this. Maybe it is just the music that is changing my perception. Then you get the roof view of the tall building—that isn’t really pretty—and finally the paint coming down in the deserted playground with that slight (am I crazy?) siren sound in the background. I think the clown is running to escape the paint storm. He can’t look scared because that would spoil the inside-outness of it, so he has to be laughing as he is fleeing paint bombs.
What pic? There is a picture of a tall apartment building with paint bursting out of it. At the bottom left-hand corner there is a sign like this “CLICK---->”. What are you seeing? What did you get the link from that you posted if not the picture?
I am greatly confused by this. What sign? What pic? All I see is the emboldened work “CLICK—>”. There is no link when I run my mouse over any part of your post.
Okay, that is strange. But here is what I still don’t understand. Well, maybe this is it. When you put up your link to the ad, are you saying you googled Sony Bravia, which I mentioned in the title, and found the website that way and put up the link in your post? I wasn’t understanding how you got the link if you couldn’t see the picture. Not that this matters really, it’s just funny .
By “sign”, I was refering to the word “Click” and the arrow. I just meant that I had given instructions about what to do. But if you don’t see the picture then I can imagine it would be a bit odd. Like, didn’t you think I had totally lost my mind to just put “CLICK---->” there ?
Well, click on my first post where it says “quote” in the upper right hand corner. Look at what I typed. Does it look like there should be a picture there?
This is the second time today Netscape has screwed you… Perhaps
it’s time to switch? If you click “quote” on Cynth’s first post you can
see the [url] and [img] tags for the image and link you’re missing…
Is that the same as “playing silly bugger”? In that case, no, I ain’t.
I am actually beginning to think it is either McAfee or Windows security stuff that is screwing me. It seems to take offense at the oddest things at times. I cannot, for instance, view my own home page any more. Something is blocking some of the graphics. Not only the image, but the HTML that refers to the image is excised when I view the source code. Same thing happens when I view in IE.
