I’ve had a nasty cold or flu that has become bronchitis. I’ve been sick enough that I couldn’t read much, and playing the flute was completely out of the question. But I wasn’t so sick that I could just lie and space out all day (an hour or so at a time was fine). I found that, once I was on the mend, I was able to do some transcribing. In fact, I did the entire Jack and Charlie Coen album (sans the two box-only cuts). Not detailed transcriptions, but all the notes. This is something I normally don’t have the patience to do in large quantities, but it’s not doing just one thing all the time (like reading) – play a few notes from the recording, toot a few on the whistle, play some slowed down, write some, etc. It requires very little energy, not much attention span, but takes a lot of time.
On a totally unrelated note, is Coen an Irish variant of Cohen, or is it a uniquely Irish name?
