Wouldn’t be me as I know nuttin’ about these critters…
But it would be cool if this forum had a sticky with a running list of the whacky tooters that are out there. It could just have a sentance or two about the country of origin, what scale it plays and how it’s played or made, maybe a link to an informative website dedicated to that instrument if such exists.
Then we newbies wouldn’t have to interrupt threads asking “Err…what’s a dizi?”
We could just look on the sticky and find:
Dizi: A Japanese, transverse flute made of bamboo and Saran Wrap with 9 holes that makes you light headed when you play it. Usually tuned to phrygian mode which makes them phrygan hard to play.

I think someone was trying to make sure they didn’t get the job.
It would be fun to write definitions though.
**Nohkan**: A Japanese, transverse flute made from old roofing shingles damaged by smoke, held together with glue, laquer, and tree bark. An restriction in the bore makes it so that over blowing does not cause a normal octave jump meaning it doesn't play well with others. It makes a high pitch sound called "hishigi" used to wake people that have fallen asleep watching Noh theater.
How about a sticky intro asking aficionados to write - or perhaps better - to paste a suitable definition of their instrument? First person to mention a watdhehellisthisden gets requested to add a definition to the sticky. No doubt inappropriate definitions could be culled.
