Two chanters and a half set made by Peter back in the day. Bargain prices I reckon!
Sam, I always meant to ask what the “busking stick” designated (and in comparison to what?)
Pipes are going grand, by the way. Had a wee run out in my local session last week.
The busking stick design is a medium to wide bore concert chanter, based I think on an old Kennedy. It was the first concert design Peter made, with a throat of 5.1 or thereabouts on the early ones, up to 5.5 one the later models using multiple round reamers. The early ones were made on a flat blade. Very good fun to play, and can be heard on the live Donal Lunny album with Sean Potts, and the Bakers Well stuff. Early ones can be a bit sharp on high B.
It was named the “busking stick” as one was quickly knocked up so a certain piper could go busking in Keighley, earning a few quid to buy provisions.
The half set is sold, but the two busking stick chanters are still for sale.
