patsy brown had a friend who worked for the ws haynes company who make boehm system flutes, hence the keys. brown worked for the gillette razor company and used some of the blanks to make chanter reeds. that’s right, metal chanter reeds.

How well do they work, anyone know?
…always on the hunt for the bulletproof reed, of course. 
I wonder where one could obtain a few of these for experimentation purposes. I can see how they would work, but you’d have to stop every now and then to rinse off the shaving cream… and I won’t even go into what all that mess would do to the wood of the chanter.
They’d probably play sharp, anyway.
