I’ve decided to hang on to the Byrne for a while and see what happens.
Look at the tuning slide for the maker’s mark on the Byrne flute.
Unless things have changed, Bryan engraves the top of the silver sheath of the barrel with BBYRNE, the key of the instrument, and the year of the manufacture. The first B is backwards in BBYRNE.
If it doesn’t have that mark, find out from Bryan if he stopped marking flutes that way. I think every flute needs a mark, personally, on something.

I too have an unmarked B Byrne flute. It’s a wonderful flute, as are all he makes. He learned a lot from Chris Wilkes. Everything about Byrne’s flutes is wonderful. Except the lack of a maker’s mark…

Looking at the track list for WFO2, I noticed that more of the people who say what they play are playing Murrays than anything else.
If I hadn’t just bought a flute, I’d definitely go for it.
Me too if an uninsured fence hadn’t just washed away in a storm. 
The fact that I’ve also just bought a flute wouldn’t have stopped me.
