The Healy has been adopted! (Gent. in a Tux.) Healy 3-Piece flute with an oval embouchure.
This was the 3rd Healy flute that I’ve had and I really liked the oval embouchure (could produce a reedier tone). But I’m a minimalist type of a guy and recently acquired G1’s 2-Piece Healy and like its simplicity.
The 3-Piece flute has integral silver tuning slide and a similar arrangement for the connection at the foot (no lube needed). The short foot section is to facilitate the future application of an Eb key (thus allowing it to be rotated for individual comfort). I also like the simplicity of the 1-piece cap/tuning cork. After playing, I simply pull the cork/cap out and swab out the whole head; it makes oiling the head bore a breeze. The 3-Piece also has a thinned more lithe body (very comfy).
I’ve had 4 Healys, because I really like their tone and playability (though my heart still belongs to a Rudall). They have a “fat” Pratten sound that blends very very well, but yet can really sing up high. Plus the response is exceptional for such a large bored flute. They also play up into the stratosphere, easy to go up to G6 (highest note I know). I can also sound the bottom D and then play 3 additional overtones (top one is G# ???).

But it’s bad timing for me, darn 
-and it’s a nice one too (I’ve played it), with the harder to find oval shaped embouchure besides. Well, someday, I’ll have another Healy I hope!
