Sold - Cillian O'Briain High D Whistle

I’m offering up my Cillian O’Briain Improved Feadog in high D for sale.

Here are two similar, but different, pictures of the whistle in question:

For those who want an upclose image and can deal with a picture of 1.3MB in size, here are the same photos in their full glory:

The whistle has no flaws apart from the player. It comes with it’s original black pouch (courtesy of Shanna Quay - my parents bought this whistle for me when they were in Ireland). It’s a tad tarnished (I don’t believe in polishing), but it’s clean inside where it count. The sticker with Cillian’s name is faded. It’s tunable - as far as any whistle with a generation type of headjoint is. It’s a nice player, but I’m a flute player and I only need one whistle so this one doesn’t get as much playing time as it deserves.

Here’s what it sounds like when I’m playing it:

I’m asking $30 which includes shipping in the USA, but willing to sell OBO. Per board SOP, feel free to ask questions here, but offers should be sent via PM.

Thanks for looking,

Eric

Eric,

Is the “New Improved” that came out a few years ago, or the “original” improved?

Thanks,

Loren

Loren,

I’m pretty sure it’s the original improved. It’s about 5 years old.

I think it’s the same model Az plays (or does he still play that whistle or any whistle now that he has box related dementia?).

Eric

I’m not patient…I’ll drop the price to $25 (which includes shipping in the US).

Eric

Thanks for the info Eric. I’d probably spring for it if it were one of the “New” one’s, but I’ve got an “Original” already, which is a fine whistle indeed. Someone should snap it up.

Loren

The whistle is sold…thanks to everyone for looking.

Eric

Hehe just saw that. I still play my improved O’Brien, both the D and Eb. It’s an awesome whistle, but it’s a bit quiet for loud sessions though. I play my narrow bore Burke when I need more volume, but the O’Brien would always be my first choice.
