Rudall & Rose model by Swiss flute maker Tom Aebi, made from one of those lucky bits of cocus which seem to not darken with age!
The flute has 8 keys and an extra block for the Bb double touch, I bought it second hand in 2003, and I believe Tom told me he made it in 2002.
It’s a great flute, with great tuning and, most of all a wonderfoul tone flexibility.
This flute a really good one, as many friends and fellow flute players have ordered flutes from Tom after trying this one.
Flute comes with a nice sturdy wooden case, which fits the flute like a glove.
Asking price for it is € 2200, buyers pays shipping.
I’m selling it as I need to raise some funds to restore an old Volvo 245!
here a couple of photos
For any question please dont’hesitate to get in touch by email at the following address michelbalattiATtiscaliDOTit
Oh, somebody please get that one! Aebi flutes are in line with the best flutes you can get today, and they normally come with a hefty wait and are more expensive when ordered new, especially when made in Cocus!
I would buy it myself if I had the money, you can’t have too many Aebi flutes…
Restore an old Volvo 245 - well Michel they are two a penny here. There´s a white one on my partner´s parking lot, and the junk yards are full of them. They are very practical though, lots of room if you need to carry stuff around and the B20 engine will go for ever
thank you very much for your interest @steampacket
thank you for the link!
I’m so crazy about old volvos that I spent my holidays
in Sweden looking around in junkyards for spares! @Jim please check PMs
Cocus comes from Cuba, and typically grows in hedgerows and fences. I wouldn’t go as far as saying its close to extinct, but there’s not much in the way of mature timber being harvested.
if you say just that, do you REALLY want to part with it??? hmmm
wish I had the money…I would have to sell both my aebi D and Bb to get this one. Someone better hurry.
Thomas Aebi is a TRUE artist and brilliant (in the literal sense) instrument maker. I own a 6 Key cocus from him. His work easily places in the upper most echelons of flute makers (and pipe -though he doesn’t yet offer pipes for sale). . Whomever got that flute was VERY fortunate.
