This soft case was built by Mooradian Gig Bags. I 've used a guitar bag from them for 14 yrs. and figured they’d be up to the challenge of building something diff. They did such a super job of it. I’d reckon they’d make a piob case for considerably less (I paid $195 for this) as there was much new that had to be done
w/backpack straps too!
Sorry this pic is big. scroll right to veiw it completely. My doggie likes to sleep in the old case…so I guess I’m keeping it!

As for the pooch - he’s giving you those “You’re not really going to throw away my bed, are you?” look… of course you can’t toss it! Look at those eyes!
And I really like the idea of the back-pack straps. That bad boy is MADE for travel!
David- that appears to be the top of the bass reg, it’s been removed and no doubt the wooden end is a ‘plug’ to protect it.
Am I correct, Kynch? I know that Andreas Rogge has a similar system for removal & storage of the bass reg.
Looks more like the blowpipe to me with a jubilee clip on the end to keep it in place.I agree with the dog..prefer the hard case..

The bass reg end cap is in a double back style and caqn be clearly seen. I am guessing that it is part of the dismantled bass drone…the slide perhaps? That, or it is another different instrument all together…or perhaps it was left by aliens from outer space…Whoooops…time for more medication…gotta go…bye bye…
Uilliam, I don’t know what a Jubilee clip is but I’ve seen this set. You’re right, It’s the blowpipe / air hose and the knurled locking connector (seen on the right) is either a pneumatic or garden hose variety. It’s held in place with a stainless hose clamp.
OK… a Jubilee clip is a brand name for hose clip. In the US it’s often called a hose clamp.
Ok..what that is from left to right;
that’s the small wooden stock leaving the bag. there’s the brass fitting which then becomes a radiator hose which then has the garden hose connector which goes to the bellows. That is something I’ll never do with out after many gigs of ..bellow interuptous!.
I reckon I should get a leather covering, but i’m so feckin lazy when it comes to that sorta thing (no comments fromt he D’arcy gallery!). I did help design the bag but it was all Peter Hoffman’s idea to do the tina roll. I thoguht he was going to go with something similar to what was in the hardcase i.e.a compartment w/the walls made of very hard foam, but he said that would be impossible. I know some blokes are afraid about the soft case thing, but I’m more afraid of a hard case getting the “Sir…you’re not getting on this plane until you CHECK YOUR INSTRUMENT CASE.” Now before one of yous starts pointing us readers to the FAA mandate saying musicians can bring on …blablablabal it IS their porogative ultimatley whether or not to let you and you’re stuff onbaord. Finally, the tina is really more fragile than the piobs. I know of someone who threw someone’s name brand chanter like a tomohawk at the wall. No damage! Try that with a concertina!!! Even when my sh*t was in a hard case, while traveling through the airport, I’d still baby it. Plus the lighter load is much welcome for those long LAX or MIA hikes from the plane to the claim. I visited Kynch and his wife one eve in their home in Miami while on business in 2004. Immediately on taking the pipes out, the pooch went straight to my case, plopped down in it , and looked at me with that same look in the photo as if to say…I’m gonna lay down here…uh huh…I like the pretty case…you’ve got the nice pipes and now I’ve got the nice case…yep…uh huh…woof. Really nice dog…even if the whiskers are crooked.
