Hello,
Just a moment of introduction. I find that I’ve made a couple posts without providing any context. Figured it was time to remedy that.
I’m Mark (aka MandoMark). I am a relatively new whistle player and have been perusing the boards for a couple of weeks. I’m generally a string player (mando, mandola, zouk) but have been playing more whistle recently because it is a lot easier to travel with…
At ZoukFest last month I purchased a wooden whistle by a maker who’s name escapes me (Herb Taylor (zoukmaker) was selling them and I decided that this would be a good purchase). This wasn’t my first whistle, as I bought a tweaked Clarke about 7 years ago. Sadly this whistle mainly spent the time in a desk drawer… Opportunities squandered, I suppose.
At Zoukfest I was fortunate to take a class with Elliot Grasso who was teaching some classes, including one on whistle. I knew that the full class was way over my head, but the hour I spent with Elliot was a worthwhile introduction. I’m hoping he’ll be back next year so I can take his week-long class.
For some shots of recent trips as well as from Zoukfest, please take a gander http://www.flickr.com/photos/12234029@N03/. There are a few shots from Dublin and Edinburgh, a couple places I found myself this year. I picked up a couple of Walton’s whistles whilst in Dublin.

(Finn relaxing before I pick up a whistle…)
Well, back to it!
