Snow Leopard

Apple deserves a round of applause for their latest upgrade to Mac OS X.

The system itself is faster and they have addressed some of the quibbles with Leopard, including making stacks more usable.

It also frees up 7GB of disk space.
An update that makes the system smaller is rare thing.
Streamlining code is what programming used to be about until bloatware became an industry standard.

Well done Apple from a predominantly Windows user.

Thanks. In that case, I’ll get it.

Darn! I thought there were going to be big kitty pictures!

didn’t do ASLR

Yes.

But most Mac user don’t believe in hackers and malignant software, so they are safe.

…ahem

Mukade

yeah…it’s a technique, innit!

I’ve heard good things about it, especially the reduced overhead (faster, less disk space). But apparently it’s a major re-write, so there may be software compatibility issues, especially with low-level things like disk encryption. I’m gonna see how things shake out for a few months before upgrading.

Me too. That’s usually wise.
I can’t believe it’s just $29.

Installed it and the speed is remarkable.

Unless you use a lot of obscure 3rd party software, I can see no reason to make the upgrade.
Here’s a site that tries to keep track of compatibility:
