Snow in May

Woke up to this this morning. Guess I won’t be burning off the ditch today after all!

There’s nothing like spring in the Popo Agie valley
the grass greening up as the river runs high.
My heart gets as light as the song of the meadowlark
waking me up at the morning’s first light.

Sometimes Old Man Winter don’t give up that easy–
the mercury drops as the wind starts to blow
and before dawn can come, all the green joy of springtime
is burried in the dead white of winter’s worst snow.

Nothing stays the same–
the sun shines, the wind blows, the night turns to day
Snow that falls in May
just leaves the grass greener when it melts away.

Just when I think things are going my way
happy and healthy, playing my part
Sharing what wisdom the good Lord has given me
and singing the songs that are loud in my heart

Like a storm off the mountain the hard times come down
showing the world just how little I know.
It’s hard to admit I’ve got so much to learn
when all my fine wisdom gets lost in the snow.

Nothing stays the same–
the sun shines, the wind blows, the night turns to day
Snow that falls in May
just leaves the grass greener when it melts away.

Keep your head high when you hit those hard times,
for those bring endurance and prove who you are
and the proof give you hope, which does not come up empty
since the image of God is poured out in your heart.

Nothing stays the same–
the sun shines, the wind blows, the night turns to day.
Snow that falls in May
just leaves the grass greener when it melts away.

I’m going to be taking a break from the chiffboard for a while–too much work to do to be hanging around here as much as I do. I’ll be back in a month or two.
