Happy, happy, happy!
Got the day off for SNOW!
So I’ll be play tunes today and will practice a bunch of carols like:
I’m dreaming of a White Christmas.
Dashing through the Snow (jingle bells).
Winter Wonderland.
Happy, happy, happy!

I really hate to be an old curmudgeon here, but I’m just glad its you and not us. That storm missed us by about fifty miles to the south.
A white Christmas is merely a highly overrated meteorological phenomenon.

Just about every school in a 5 county area where I live has a snow day today, except where I work/teach so I’m here with my class of 3 people (usually 20).
Have fun with your snow day tunes!

My school has had about two snow days in the past twenty years or something ridiculous like that. I guess that’s what I get for going to school in a snow belt - we could get four feet and no one would care.
Lee how much snow didja get?
Know any snow related tunes?

Many years ago, on a particularly snowy day, all the public schools were off. Our private high school was not. Naturally, this resuted in a lot of grousing and more than few questions to teachers along the lines of “what does it take to get a snow day here?”
Shortly after lunch, the principal went on the PA system to explain the schools’s snow day policy. “When you can no longer see the ball on the flagpole on the gym’s roof…”
You get the picture.
We’ve got a couple of Aussie girls in the office who are dying to see real snow for the first time ever.
Alas, in London we don’t really get snow anymore, just a light dusting of polluted dribbles. And it’s been raining since October, it feels like.
Could anyone mail me some snow so I can suprise the girls? You seem to have plenty to spare, so nobody should miss it.
It snowed here! We were right in the middle of doing school when the big flakes started coming down. I released the boys from lessons and let them go out and enjoy!
They’re making up for it today, but they had a blast yesterday afternoon!

Kim, are you a home-schooler then?

Yea Lee,
You got your snow day.
No school here today as well.
I got the day off of work too.
Have not picked up a whistle as of yet.
Thinking on taking the opportunity to do a wee bit of christmas goodies baking.
Then again… if I remain here planted in front of the computer… nothing will get done.
Have a good winter wonderland
Laura
Okay, Lee, what kind of pull have you got, anyway? You were wishing for this in the chat room last night! No fair. It takes a real blizzard to get sent home here in SLC.

You bet! My motto is “From ABCs to ACTs”! My 7 year old is almost done with 3rd grade and my 4 year old is doing preschool.

That’s wonderful Kim! I really admire you for doing that… I’ve often thought about switching over to homeschooling, but I haven’t been brave enough to do it yet. Is there a particular program that you use? Feel free to email or PM, if you’d rather take it off the board… ![]()

Ah Lee, you rascal. I have been declaring all fall that if it’s snowing, I’m not driving to work.
Remember how isolated this place is? I’ll be calling Mr. Green to come in to plow me out after it stops. I figure there’s 8 inches on the ground now and my little Altima won’t make it up the hill to the road, I’m sure.
But you’re right–time to entertain the cats with the whistles!

Kim, all we got was a dusting. The roads didn’t get too bad in Tulsa, did they?

They were pretty icy this morning, but with such a sunny day, it melted pretty quick.

A day late and a dollar short…
We got 9 inches here in southwestern NJ ( half an hour south of Philly). It took me an hour and a half to drive home from work yesterday morning (normally a 50 minute trip), so alas, I napped most of the day and night. Gotta shovel the driveway this morning, about an hour and a half from now.
Too bad the snow can’t just fall everywhere but on the roads, and driveways…
