Siúcra - Lovely Annie

This lovely song has been stuck in my head for days.
Have a listen if you haven’t already heard it:

It is quite lovely. I’d never heard of Siucra, which is rather strange since it seems they formed in Boulder, which is very near to where I live.

Reminds me of all those “Lovely Nancy” songs. The lyrics are exactly the same as the one I know in places. I wonder how many songs like that there are.

Thanks Gary

You’ve given me yet another group to watch for, a rapidly growing list since I started attending C&F. The whole experience keeps enriching my life.

Mike

It’s a version of “Farewell my lovely Nancy,” done by Tim Hart and Maddy Prior, Solas, and probably many others. If you’re not familiar with the three Tim and Maddy albums, you really ought to check them out. The first two, Folk Songs of Olde England, from '67-68, were right up there with the Carthy-Swarbick recordings as far as their impact on the English folk revolution.
