Sir Festus Burke

This is a nice catchy O’Carolan tune, and it really seems familiar… how many pipers have recorded this, aside from Tommy Martin? When I listened to it today, I know I’ve heard it before…

Jeff,
I got it from a Horslips album, “Drive the Cold Winter Away”. Apart from that I don’t know of any other recording of it. Thats not saying the tune hasn’t been done elsewhere, the tune is in plenty of books so I’d say its been recorded before.
Tommy

great album, I play that at Christmas time alot

The Burke piece is one of my favorite tracks on Tommy’s cd. I’m going to learn it and couple it with Johnny Cope.

Seriously, I really like the piece! Furthermore, Tommy’s rendition of Sir Sidney Smith’s March nearly had me dusting off the NSPs, but I guess I’ll try it out on the UPs first.
