Similarities (OT)

I’ll try to stay on topic here (heheh)
While talking to some telescope owners on the Internet, I was struck by the similiar attitudes. There’s the "Commercial large Corp. Group..i.e. Celestron and Meade users, and then the there is The Dobsonian group i.e. cheaper is better. Then there is the Seriously expensive glass groups. These are where you get on a waiting list for 3 years or so Just to get on a waiting list …A waiting list for a waiting List.
Each group is convinced that they are right.
The makers of telescopes (Especially the exotics)are accorded a certain respect…Just like whistlesmiths. Whistlers have “Sessions” where they get together and learn from each other and generally have fun.
Telescope owners have “Star Parties” Where we also get together with our scopes and learn and have fun. Finally…BOTH whistlers and scope owners say the same thing
Have fun,Learn how and why your instrument works, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY…Respect the choices that each individual makes.
