Seems like this has come up before, but I can’t find the old thread. In cleaning my Selmer student silver flute, I inadvertantly changed the position of the end cork (or whatever it’s called). Is there a way to check this adjustment with only simple tools and limited technical knowledge?
Your cleaning rod will have a “mark” at the end opposite the eyelet. If you (gently) insert the cleaning rod with this end first, and line up the mark in the middle of the embrochure hole, this should give you a pretty reasonable tone and intonation combination.
Best of luck,
Mark Sackett
Mark,
Many thanks for the tip. I found the mark, got it into position, and found that I hadn’t jostled it too badly after all. And now I know how to check and adjust it!
