(silly, slightly OT thread) Do you name your whistles?

I do! My friend Airika named all her whistles, and then I thought it was cute, so I named all of mine.

I named my whistles after people in rock bands. :laughing:

The names for my brass Generations all came from the band Jump, Little Children. The G is named Matt Bivins, the F is Evan Bivins, the Eb is Jay Clifford, the D is Ward Williams, the C is Jonny Gray, and the Bb is Little Bobby (thatā€™s their old ā€œmascotā€)

My Oak D is Billy Corgan (of the Smashing Pumpkins), my blue Sweetone D is Jimmy Gnecco (of Ours), and the Clare 2 peice dealie is Shannon Hoon (from Blind Melon)

So do any of you people name your whistles or other instruments, or are Airika and I just nutcases?

I havenā€™t named mine, but now Iā€™m going to! Iā€™m going to name them after the Beatles - My Acorn D is John Lennon, Generation F is Paul McCartney, Generation Eb is George Harrison, and the Clarke C is Ringo Starr - cool! I guess I could be considered a nutcase now - not that I already wasnā€™t. :wink:

I havenā€™t done that yet, but let me remind you: our last newsletter just had a great article about the death of L.E. McCulloughā€™s 25-year-old Generation, Bluezette.

We all know heā€™s definitely not a nutcase. So I guess that answers your question. :slight_smile:

ARGHHH! Then Iā€™d be right back trying to put names with facesā€¦erā€¦whistles. Itā€™s frustrating enuf trying to remember the names of the tunes! Gm

Guess I could follow that old joke about naming them all LeRoy and if I wanted to single one outā€¦Iā€™d just call it by itā€™s last name! : )LOL

Anyone out there remember the Saturday morning show (not a cartoon) H.R. Puffinstuff? The boy on their was Jimmy (also my name) and his flute was named Freddy (actually, I think it was a whistle).

The only ones I have nicknames for are the Generation Bb, which I call ā€œthe Monsterā€ simply because of its size (it is actually my best whistle) and the Generation high-G, which I call ā€œthe Dog Whistleā€ for obvious reasons!
