Show Your Colors!

There are so many to choose from. And the thing about a flag is that it is emotionally loaded.
For youse North Americans, State Flags maybe carry some baggage from the Civil War, or even the War of Independence,
but in Yurp, any kind of flag - ANY kind of flag - is liable to polarise the position of anyone who sees it.
That is not a good thing, IMO. I’m not keen on flags.

As I say, there are too many to choose from. But I’ll go with this one - slightly less loaded than most of the rest.

It the states there is a college colours day on Sept. 2. College loyalty is of course much stronger than any political loyalties.

Does the back side of the hand show up on the other side of the flag?

One of these frequently flew from our porch when I was a lad. Both my parents were believers.

(I decided I might be playing this one too close to the vest. This is the Esperanto flag)

I could go with this one.

Oh, mi adoras la verdan stelon! Mi estis ankaŭ esperantisto je mia juneco, membro de la Liga, kc. Hodiaŭ, nu … mi bedaŭras pri viaj gepatroj.

I wondered all day today what it must have been like to have been raised by parents who were believers in Esperanto.

This one flies from one of the flagpoles in front of the Sakya Tibetan Buddhist Monastery just down the street from my house in Seattle (the other pole flies the Stars and Stripes). But when the Sakya Trizin (head lama of the Sakya sect, as I understand it) visited a couple weeks ago, they had hundreds of miniature versions of this flag strung along lines running from the front porch roof over the sidewalk to poles by the curb. Very impressive site.

My wife is a native Esperanto speaker but she was raised Catholic.

AND she was raised Catholic.

How did she get here? (I mean, there…)

Boato.
