Well? What do you all think? I really can’t wait to read all your really interesting opinions on whether this thread should be locked, deleted, or allowed to die.
By all means lock it, since I personally find it offensive and overlong. And we have too many threads, let’s lock the whole C&F whistle board. ![]()
Which thread, the sickening one? I would like to see it locked. It was really brought up to the front page again for no reason. I apologize for mentioning it in the recent thread concerning Andrea Corr and other whistle players; it just reminded people it was there.
I thoroughly endorse Dale and Rich’s right to censor entries, whether for commercialization or for lewdness, but I don’t really see suppressing the “Sickening” thread. It makes interesting reading.
I hate locking down threads, it takes away from my valuable whistling time.
I think my neighbors want to lock down my whistles though…and this isn’t even Deadwood.
Dejavu all over again. And I fell for it by posting on that damn thread!!! Now you all know how I sob…want to…sob…throw away…sob…insults and sickening and…sob…everything…
Verklempt on the Left Coast,
Bay Area Weekenders
Surely if the thread in question is not this thread, then the phrase should be that thread. Of course if it’s another thread enirely it should be another thread!
If of course you do mean this thread, then I say keep it open!
Steve (very confused)
p.s. I just tried to open page 35 of that thread, to see why Phil would possibly want to re-post on it, and I got an ‘error connecting’ to database message. Perhaps (hopefully) the fuse has finally blown and we’re all locked out anyway!

My view is that we should lock this and that thread, and all other threads on the board. Then we can move it all over to the Usenet, and have some real, grown-up flame wars, not this sissy “hope I didn’t offend you” stuff.
![]()
Bloo, you NEVER offend ANYONE. . .{chuckling wildly}
Hey, the last time I looked this message board was NOT a democracy, but a benevolent dictatorship. I think it should remain a benevolent dictatorship, and say let Rich do whatever he pleases with any thread he chooses.
If newbies read the flaming posts, and see that things get worked out in their own way and in their own time, great. If it puts them off, they may choose not to become members. {{shrug}} so? They wouldn’t be happy with how we function here. When WE, the longer term residents, get annoyed with how things function, we mosey on. No big deal. Really.
We have this delicious influx of new people recently, and they have braved Its Sickening, and they’ll brave any other spat that comes up.
Why on earth pose ANY IOTA of more work for Rich? We’re here by his good graces. Let him run this however he chooses. And if he wants an opinion, he’ll ask.

This thread, is what it says, Steve. I was attempting to find a creative way of expressing my irritation at the resurrection of “those” threads. (I know I know I don’t have to read them.) I’m tempted to say that irony is largely lost around here, but then there are differences in the use of certain words on this side and that side of the Atlantic.
For example, when I first came over here, I couldn’t figure out why when I answered the phone people would say “Is this Steve?” I always felt like saying, well if you don’t know who you are, how do you expect me to help you?
I mean, this was Steve, from my point of view, but I would have expected them to say “Is that Steve?”
And I remember feeling totally disoriented the first time someone said, “Oh, are you travelling to Europe? Would you bring a package for my mother in England?”
(Whaddya mean, bring? I’m going, so I can take it. If I were coming, maybe I could bring it…)
Anyway, does everyone feel this thread should be allowed to continue? (Any references to other threads are strictly-off topic.) ![]()
…sob… and they just…keep…THREADING…and some are serious and some aren’t… and some are sarcastic … and…confused…and Capn Kirk keeps whistling…on that movie… with Andrea Corr…miniature golf and Yamahas…black windows… and some are irritated. And which… this…is…this???

I remember an old, silly, conversation that some friends of mine had on the telephone:
“Are you there?”
“No”
“No?”
“Yes”
“Yes what?”
“Yes, No”
“Why No?”
“Because you asked if I was there”
“Are You?”
“no”
“Why not?”
“Because I’m here!”
Very silly, but it makes StevieJ’s point - I think!
Steve

No, its just a glitch with the Board that was mentioned to Rich a few months ago - it sometimes happens with long threads - no boggie. The “Its Sickening” thread is still alive and well ![]()

hey, W’enders: You have to be a bit more careful. The narcotics people do monitor this board, you know…
I hate drugs, they take away from my valuable whistling time, except the occasional wee draught, local ale or aged smscotchwhiskey, or wine (gratuitous reference brought to you by the California Vintners Assoc.). 100% drug hypocrite, brought to you by the human race and the judicial system.
I just got this way…naturally…after 35 pages of $%^&(%$&. And thinking anybody cared.
But, 19,629 VIEWS! It reminds me of that barge filled with garbage from NY that nobody would take. It was at sea for over a year I think. Back in the 70s?
Sorry Stevie, I mentioned ***it

I don’t know, I think you could be perfectly validly asked to bring a package to your friend’s mother, but of course, you would be bringing it -for- your friend, not for your friend’s mother, although perhaps properly speaking you ought be asked if you can, for your friend, take a package from your friend, carry it with you across the ocean, and bring it to your friend’s mother… or, something like that. ![]()
EditPS: not to ruin the joke or anything, but I have to agree, after writing that, that it sounds wrong to talk about bringing something to some place that neither conversant is presently at… you bring something here, and you take something there, as should be clear to anybody who has been ordered about by his or her mother…

Let it live on…
So you say, but yet, still sits this thread languishing in obscurity.
I think this thread is stupid,
But I also think that is the point of this thread.
Are you all talking about that brobdignagian thread that talks about everybody on this board being a cowpie? I never posted on that little jumbo. I’m proud of every post I’ve never made.
